Construction will be a challenging phase. The Redwood Trunk Sewer Project not only runs through some of the city’s busiest streets in both residential and commercial areas, but will overlap other major construction projects such as the 101 Santa Clara River Bridge.
Although construction will create some impacts and frustrations for all motorists, the City of Oxnard Wastewater Division is making every effort to minimize these impacts with a creative construction schedule, effective public outreach program and a comprehensive traffic control plan.
The Traffic Control Plan will include:
- Conducting a traffic study to assist in the development of a plan to minimize impacts, lane closures and detours.
- Developing traffic control plans to accommodate construction and reduce public disruption.
- Coordinating emergency services and public transportation with providers.
- Preparing traffic control plans to provide a safe work area for construction while maintaining vehicular and pedestrian flows.
The construction phase of the project started in March of 2004, daily detours, road closures and alternative routes will be provided in our traffic updates and the telephone information hotline, (805) 385-8360.
